A Talmudic legend has expressed this concept of the repression of the truth, in a poetic form: when a child is born, an anel touches its head, so that it forgets the knowledge of the truth that it has at the moment of birth. If the child did not forget, its life would become unbearable.

탈무드의 전설은 이 진실 억압의 개념을 시적인 형태로 표현하고 있다. 즉 아기 한 명이 태어나면 천사가 그의 머리를 건드린다. 그래서 그 아기는 태어나는 순간 가지고 있던 진실에 대한 지식을 잊어버린다. 그 아기가 그것을 잊어버리지 않는다면 그의 삶은 견디기 힘든 것이 될 것이다.
책 속에서 언급하는 진실의 개념은 단순히 '참 사실'로 치환가능한 개념은 아니다.
